How often should you change your oil?

So apparently you will always get varied answers to this but I am curious to know if their is a recommended duration during which a Harley Davidson bike should have an oil change. A lot has been said about mileage but I believe that this varies from one bike to the other and also especially because more oil is consumed during the summer.

Oil is very important for the smooth running of the engine so I understand why at times the frequency with which it should be changed confuses people. I guess it varies from one bike to another depending on what is indicated in the service manual. Of most importance is the use of high quality oil.

There's no one size fits all solution regarding oil changing. It depends on engine specifics, frequency of use, and even the average temperatures of where you live. Also, not everyone likes to maintain their bikes to the same standard.

You are talking about an air cooled engine. Even the Milwaukee Eight is air cooled. I change oil, that is motor oil, every 3000 miles. Along with the motor oil I change the filter. I change the other fluids, transmission, and primary oil ever other oil change.

I just follow the manual every 5,000 miles, primary and transmission every 10,000.
No need of pouring out good oil.
Most synthetic oil is good for 10 to 15,000 miles so 5,000 is early enough in my opinion.
