Where do you take your Harley Davidson for service?

So I heard that it is easy to locate a dealer online to help with matters service. In the event that there is no dealer near you, is it ok to take it to a place with a good mechanic? I normally prefer to use a dealer but in the absence of one, I would only use an experienced mech.

Thankfully, there is a Harley Davidson dealer near where I live so that is where I go to whenever I need any kind of service. I do not know what I would do if I lived in a place that had no dealership but maybe that is a bridge to cross when I reach it.

If I didn't go to the dealer I'd buy a service manual and do it myself. I do all the work on my metric. Steering bearings, front springs, valves. I'll eventually do the same with the Harley.

I go to the dealer for warrenty things for sure. However it is 40 minutes away so I sometimes take it to a local shop that is a Harley specific shop. All the Techs are licensed Harley mechanics and the shop rate is better.. If you go in to your local shop and talk to them you'll find out pretty quick if it's somewhere you want to get work done.

Wanted a 5k check and adjust the clutch on my FLTHTK limited, as it wants to go forward at startup. When I picked it up at the local dealer, I paid for a ď5pt pre-trip checkĒ and a clutch that still engages the gear. Disgusting. Donít listen to the customer, do a shytee job and charge an arm and a leg. Last time Iíll walk in there. Havenít returned my call yet. Bought a service guise and will do it myself or find a reputable Indy.
