    Checking the battery condition

How often should the water and acid levels be checked? I always find myself checking for loose cables. My thinking is that battery issues are normally caused by a failure to observe the battery condition.

I've always been very good at killing batteries, and so now I often take extra time to ensure that my battery is in peak working condition. On a monthly basis I do the general things like checking cables, electrolyte level, top up with water and so on.

Most of the batteries used on Harley Davidson motorcycles are AGM batteries and you can not check the levels in them. They are sealed batteries. You can though check the connections to make sure that they are tight. Take care when you have to tighten a battery connection, they are lead and extremely soft.
