Will alternator charge battery if just idling?

If you start the bike and let it idle for a while, does that do anything to help charge the battery if you can't ride the bike for a long period of time?

Probably not a huge amount. Buy a battery tender and keep her plugged in. Cheap insurance.

+1 on the battery tender. In a pinch walmart has them. They are really cheap on Amazon though.

I want to do just this. Add an SAE connector cable that I can connect a battery tender when not riding and a USB port for when I am riding.
