Best transmission fluid

I know a lot of people like to use specialized fluids in each system. What is the best quality oil that I can use in my transmission?

There are a lot of big brands out there that you can choose from, but the best you can use, I think, you can use Redline Shockproof Heavy Duty. A heavy weight gear oil will do great in your transmission. Just try to stick with the good quality brands like Royal Purple and Redline as these companies usually make the best quality products from what I've seen so far.

I agree that you should try to stick with only the high quality, trusted brands if you want top performance from your bike. I know it can be tempting sometimes to go with cheaper stuff, but it's never worth it in the end.

Great advice. While we're on that note, can someone here please point me in the direction of where I might find some 'how to' articles here on this forum? I would like to read up on how to change your transmission fluid.

I agree that your best bet is going with one of the well known brands. No point in taking chances on cheaper less-known companies and products.

Amsoil makes primary and tranny specific fluids.

Second this - can’t for the life of me find the tranny drain on my 79 shovel! Anyone have a photo? Worked on vehicles for 35 years but this is eluding me!!
