    Howdy from the Houston Area

I am an old Marine who loves motorcycles and firearms. I have never had a Harley to call my own, but my wife currently has an ‘18 Heritage Classic and a ‘15 Street 750 in the garage that I bought for her. I currently ride a ‘17 Indian Springfield and also own an ‘06 Suzuki Boulevard M50 that I keep for our youngest son. His wife doesn’t want him to own a bike, but this way he gets to ride with us.

Unfortunately, most stock Harley’s are not really built for guys my size. I am a fairly big guy at 6’3”/250lbs with 35” inseam/36” arms. A couple of years ago, I test rode several RKs and was very cramped. Then I took one test ride on my Springfield and bought it that day. I wouldn’t call it buyer’s remorse, but there is still a part of me that keeps me looking at the Harley’s. So, here I am joining a Harley forum.

The guys at the local dealership are pushing a Road Glide as the “big boy bike”, but I don’t like fairings. I had figured that I was back to looking at RKs that I could customize, but then it struck me; I don’t need another bagger since I am keeping my Springfield. Then I remembered taking a test ride on a 2008 Street Bob with forward controls a few years ago and realized that what I really want is a Dyna. I have sat on a few Street Bob's, Fat Bob's and Wide Glides. I know there are many other Dyna models, but I haven’t tried them yet. Right now, I am leaning towards a Street Bob or Wide Glide.

The street has not been ridden since November, so we will be selling it this year. This will make room in the garage for me to get another bike. I’ve also been thinking of replacing the M50 with an older model (’07-’12) Heritage next year to give my son something with a bigger engine. He makes me look small, and the Heritage is the only Softail he can fit on.

    Anyway, thanks for having me.
