Adapting to a new motorbike

There are instances where you are either swapping bikes on a ride or have bought yourself a new one. If I am intending to ride for the first time, the first thing I will be keen to check is the brakes. When a friend is going to use my bike, I will always remind them to check the brakes so as to have a feel of how the bike operates. In your case, what is the first thing you will normally check?

I'm more of a throttle and weight man myself. I like to see how responsive the bike is and how it accelerates according to my use of the throttle. I also like to take time to get used to the weight of the bike and how it feels when performing certain turns and manouvers.

I am no fan of a heavy bike but whenever I have a chance to ride one, I will normally try to ride it a high speed to see how it accelerates. Brakes too are important since you do not want a break failure when at top speed.

I also like to check the brakes and get a general feel of the bike. The feeling of the brakes and the throttle play a large part in your riding experience and how you'll navigate the road with the bike. I like to take some time to find a best riding style with a new bike.

I rarely use other people's bikes but when I have to, it has to be a Harley. I think it gets to your head when you have owned a Harley for several years and it kind of creates a bias in your mind. Either way, I will always seek as much information as I can from the owner especially if I will be using the bike for quite sometime.
